Just a heads up - I'm making one last call to move comments off the forum before it goes *poof* this coming Saturday.
You have been warned! ^.^

Work has been going forward on getting the forums into the blogs since Smudge's announcement. All the old initial posts have been converted into blog posts backdated to their original post time. Through the magic of admin privileges, these are also all assigned to the original author.
However, we can't fiddle with the author of a comment to a blog post, so the bulk of the comments are not moved over and will be lost. If you remember making a good comment to a thread on the forum, I recommend you look it up and copy it over. However, there's not a lot of that at the moment.... 😛
Things that need doing:
For those of you not used to posting on a WordPress site (which is the software that powers this blog), when you are logged in, there will be an 'Admin Bar' across the top of the screen. That has a couple of links, but the main one is "+ New" which when hovered over will drop down to a "Post" link. Clicking on that will get you to the main posting screen. Clicking on the site name (Minions of the Fickle Muse) will get you at the dashboard, where you will be able to get at any drafts that have not been posted yet. Further advice on how posting works can be found here.
If you do not already have an account with Gravatar, I recommend you get one. It's basically just a user icon-service, so that you can have a user icon associated with all your comments and posts. You'll need to tie it to the same email that your account here is tied to, of course. This will also work across a variety of sites, and can be handy if you get into the habit of occasionally commenting on webcomics.... 😛
Also, you should notice that Smudge has switched over the sidebar widget so that we will see recent comments on posts instead of recent forum activity. If you do comment on an old post, everyone can still see that you've done so there.
Finally, the blog is here for us to keep in touch, so go ahead and post anything that you think other people in the group will be interested in! It doesn't have to be just about the MMOs.
Just wanted to give folks a heads up, I'm going to be changing how our website functions radically over the next couple of weeks.
Mostly – the forum section of the website is going away.
Why, you may ask? There are several reason for the change.
One is that both the forum software and the blog software that it is nested within, pretty much serve the same function, they just display the data differently. Redundancy, my name is redundancy. ^.^
Another reason is that some features that, as a semi-creative community we like to share, do not function on the forum but do function inside of the WordPress blog system, like, oh – posting YouTube vids or embedded artwork from DeviantArt and the like.
Searches and Categories are much more flexible with the blog system than forums and sub-forums. And these, from a wise poster, can be created on the fly as needed.
And last, but certainly NOT least, by jettisoning the forums, I remove a level of complexity and maintenance on the site that is, for all intents and purposes, not really needed.
I have given this a lot of thought over the past several weeks, and it's not something I am doing lightly. But I think in the long run we will have a stronger, more dynamic gaming community for it. At least that's my hope. ^.^
So – what happens from here?
Rindis and I are going to be going though over the next week+ and copying all beginning of threads (or creating new ones if warranted) of all the major topics to the new blog format. If there is a comment that you wish to keep on said thread, please feel free to copy it over as a comment to the new post.
I and Rindis will do our best to make sure that all logins will remain the same! If, for some reason you have problems with your login, you can contact me via email at smudge (at) backbreaker (dot) com.
Navigating the new system -
To create a post via the new system, first login. You will notice a dark gray bar at the top of your screen once you've completed the login process. This is your window to the back-end of the site and all the features you have access to. To make a new post, simply click on the '+ New' and have at it. Please feel free to poke around without fear that you might mess up the site. WordPress is pretty good about different user-level access so that should not be a problem. And if you do break it, I'll just put it back together again. ^.^
If you have any questions, please comment on the blog comment area and I'll try to answer them as quickly as possible.
Welcome all to the new Website and Forum for the Fickle Muse! Feel free to poke around. if you are already a member of the Fickle Muse/Fickle Moos, feel free to make a login.
Due note - all new logins are admin approved, so please be patient.
